Located on Melbourne’s vibrant Little Collins Street, the new Rodd & Gunn flagship store marks a significant milestone for the brand, bringing together heritage character and contemporary design in a truly unique retail destination. As a first-of-its-kind project for the client, the four-storey venue features an expansive retail space, a cellar, and the second location of Rodd & Gunn’s self-curated restaurant concept, The Lodge.

The Project

Opened in October 2025, the flagship store combines elevated fashion, hospitality, and lifestyle experiences under one roof, while preserving the historic character of both the Rodd & Gunn brand and Little Collins Street’s iconic architecture.

The interior design balances timeless elegance with modern refinement. Matte black counters, gold accents, black marble tiling, and carefully considered finishes create a sophisticated environment that feels both classic and contemporary.

Accessibility was a key focus throughout the design process. Solutions were thoughtfully specified to meet compliance requirements while complementing the overall aesthetic direction of the space, ensuring functionality did not compromise the premium look and feel of the venue.

DTAC Products Specified

To help create a safe, accessible, and compliant environment for all visitors, a selection of DTAC products were specified for the project:

  • DE0150B – DTAC Pemko® Modular + Corduroy Surface Edging System 10 x 63 x 4mm – Natural Anodised Base / Black Anodised Insert
  • DE0150C – DTAC Pemko® Modular + Corduroy Surface Edging System 10 x 63 x 4mm – Natural Anodised Base / Natural Anodised Insert

P5 rated, the Surface Edging Systems provide a durable, long-term solution suitable for high-traffic environments. They can be installed using adhesive or screw-fix options, with fixings concealed beneath the inserted edging to maintain a clean, refined finish.

The systems were selected for their durability, slip resistance, and ability to complement the project’s transitional design elements, while supporting compliance with NCC Australia stairway accessibility standards.

Outcome

Rodd & Gunn’s new flagship store successfully brings together classic architecture, modern interiors, premium retail, and hospitality in one refined destination. The result is a sophisticated space that enhances the customer experience while respecting the character of its Little Collins Street setting.

Through the careful specification of DTAC products, the venue also delivers a safe, accessible, and compliant environment for visitors, supporting both the practical requirements and design ambitions of this landmark project.
